Nov 10, 2015 The November 8 election process was characterized by controversy and lack of trust, including inconsistent implementation of policies and questions about the neutrality, competency and transparency of the Union Election Commission (UEC) although it was a tranquil affair and the most competitive electoral event in Myanmar since 1990 said by People’s Alliance for Credible Elections (PACE) at Nov 9 conference. That reports also said the reservation of 25pc of parliamentary seats for the military was undemocratic, and added that the controversial decision to disenfranchise white card holders, the cancellation of voting in conflict-affected areas and the challenges faced by internally displaced persons all raised the question about the inclusiveness of the elections. PACE fielded with 2000 observers who witnessed the opening of polling stations, the voting process, the closing of polls and the counting process in every states and regions.
